CubeWriter is an on-screen keyboard and writing program designed to meet ALL computer user's needs. CubeWriter allows users of all ages and abilities to write with a computer in a non-conventional way.

CubeWriter was created by an occupational therapist, Mary Hellman, who specializes in the area of assistive technology. Mary works with many students who struggle with the task of writing, for a variety of reasons. Throughout her years of combined experience in therapy and assistive technology, Mary has had the opportunity to explore and experiment with many types of software programs. It was difficult to find writing software that was easy for teachers to program, fast, and fun for students to run. After researching other programs and not finding the “just right” software, the concept of CubeWriter was born.

CubeWriter began as a solution for switch and scanning users, but developed into software that ANYONE can use. With universal design (usable by all people), CubeWriter gives everyone an opportunity to write and learn in a non-conventional manner. The user is able to choose from various options to accommodate their individual needs. A variety of challenges have been solved with this easy, fun and motivating on-screen keyboard and writing program.

Type Mode Typing made easy! CubeWriter is an on-screen keyboard for typing with a mouse, touchscreen or switch/scanning. All the same typing features without using a standard keyboard! Types directly into any text based document you choose.
Write Mode Writing made easy! CubeWriter's on-screen keyboard and writing program is designed to meet ALL computer user needs. Users are able to choose their own input method, word list, keyboard layout, or text-based program. Unlike word "prediction", CubeWriter displays a list of words for word "selection" ... eliminating the guessing.
Teach Mode Teaching made easy! CubeWriter teaches the user where to find words within 3 different word lists or their own customized word list. Enter ANY information to be taught such as letters, numbers, words, phrases or even sentences. CubeWriter displays and highlights the information within the word list. It's fast, easy, and fun!
